FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Founder, President and CEO of Pegasus Home Health Care Named One of 2018 Women Achievers by Business Life Magazine
Glendale, CA – September 5, 2018 – Pamela Spiszman, RN, MBA, the founder, president and CEO of Pegasus Home Health Care, Inc., was recently selected as one of the 2018 Women Achievers by Business Life Magazine. She is one of several women in the surrounding area honored by the magazine for its 29th annual celebration of women’s achievements in business, community and leadership endeavors. The annual event will take place on October 1 at Castaways in Burbank, CA.
Located in Glendale and serving Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, Pegasus Home Health Care has been providing medical and personal care services for families since 1994, helping individuals maintain their independence and the lifestyle they enjoy in the comfort of their own home.
In the 24 years since its founding, Pegasus has grown year after year and now employs more than 100 people. According to Ms. Spiszman, “Our goal is to serve our patients with dignity and love, to help them achieve as much independence as possible, and to contribute to our communities through charity and volunteerism. Through these goals, we hope to have continued success.”
Soon after establishing Pegasus, Ms. Spiszman attended the National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) annual convention and heard a speaker that resonated with her, inspiring her to adopt a new style of leadership called “Higher Ground Leadership.” She is referring to Lance Secretan, an author, speaker and teacher of leaders who build organizations that inspire others and change the world. Ms. Spiszman considers him her mentor, from whom she has learned new and inspiring leadership methods alongside people from organizations around the world.
“Lance taught me the difference between motivation and inspiration and that we are not only an organization but a community. He taught me to understand that it is the souls within the community that I serve. This leadership philosophy is practiced throughout our organization and with everyone we meet and serve.”
Ms. Spiszman’s career has its roots in childhood. When she was 14, she volunteered in a convalescent hospital where she discovered a passion for caring for others – specifically the elderly. She knew at that very young age that she wanted to be a nurse. After a detour to have children and raise a family, she became an RN, working in the critical care and emergency departments, later becoming a director of emergency services and then a VP of Patient Care.
There was still a void in her professional life, though, as she yearned to have more of a direct effect on the care that her patients received. She learned about home health from a colleague and was hooked from the start knowing that patients could receive care in the comfort of their own homes. Pegasus Home Health Care was born in 1994.
Today, she is receiving this prestigious honor from Business Life Magazine, which names several area women to its Women Achievers every fall. The event will be marked by workshops, guest speakers and award ceremonies celebrating the achievements Pamela Spiszman and many other local leaders have made in their communities.
